The Computer Science Honor Society is a national organization brought together by the Computer Science Teachers Association, The mission of the CSHS is to encourage enthusiasm for computer science, honor academic excellence, and promote service.
The chapter of the Computer Science Honor Society at Carmel High School is a group of more than 75 high school students who share an interest in all things computer-related. Its mission is to utilize its members' passion and skills in computer science for good. Members organize various volunteer/service projects, including an annual "Hour of Code" event, school-wide hackathons, tech assistance for the elderly, and the Indigo Coding Contest!
Sandra first began coding when she was 10, joining a local FIRST Robotics team and falling in love with computer science. Starting with the block-based EV3 language and moving on to Python, she would later teach herself C and C++ from Harvard's online CS50 course. Today, she is fluent in Python, C, C++, and Java, and she uses her programming skills to better the community around her! In her free time, she loves to debate, listen to music, and spend time with her cat and her dog.
